THE BUGLE'S NEW HEAD CHEF
Matthew Gardner our Head Chef joins The Bugle Hamble. Having experience at the top level including working under the renowned Gary Rhodes, Matthew has always managed to establish an enviable reputation at subsequent establishments.
Working in the Royal Oak East Lavent, West Sussex , and also the unique ‘Pub with no name’ in rural Hampshire, he is well known for the quality and consistency of his cuisine.
Described by Antonio Carluccio in the Observer June 2003 (a ‘No Name’ regular) as one of the best young chefs he has seen!
Matthew is a cook that sets great store in using the best possible and freshest ingredients, and passes on to his brigade the importance of attention to detail and consistency. He intends to seek out suppliers local to Hamble and take advantage of great seafood from the Solent in order to offer customers an eclectic menu.

This historic grade II listed building has been restored using traditional materials and methods and includes such features as natural flagstone floors, a solid oak bar and woodburning stoves.
In addition to the pub, there's a dedicated dining area inside, and outside our terrace is a great place to enjoy lunch & a drink in warmer weather. Upstairs there's a private room "The Captain's Table", which is available to book for private dinner parties & special occasions.
The Bugle serves top quality food and drink in a relaxed and informal atmosphere and has well & truly re-established its place back in the heart of village life. The delicious seasonal food menu uses fresh, quality ingredients & local produce. There's also a chalked up "specials board" offering fresh seafood specialities & other home-made dishes.
Weekends offer a brunch, all-day breakfasts & roasts.
